HONOLULU, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii the largest and oldest airline, took top honors at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards after being named the recipient of the Best Airline Staff award – North America award, which recognizes service excellence in all areas of front-line customer service.
As the first recipient of this coveted award, the President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines Mark Dunkerley noted: “Hawaii is a special place with a rich history and unique aloha culture. Our employees provide authentic Hawaiian hospitality to more than 11 million guests each year. On behalf of our entire ‘ohana, I am honored to accept this award.”
The winners of this year’s World Airline Awards, the global benchmark for airline excellence, were announced today at the Farnborough Airshow in England. Each year, travelers around the world take part in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey, where winners are determined by customer satisfaction with staff efficiency, friendliness, service and hospitality , as well as the overall consistency of the quality of the airline’s staff.
“The management and staff of Hawaiian Airlines should be very proud to receive this award for the airline’s best staff in North America“, said the CEO of Skytrax Edward Plaisted. “It’s an award voted for by their most important critics, their passengers.”
From the moment Hawaiian Airlines guests step on board, they’ll appreciate the carrier’s signature Mea Hookipah (translation: I am the host), long famous for its warm and friendly celebration of the culture, people and Aloha spirit of the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaiian Airlines was also named one of the top five national airlines in the world by Travel + Leisure earlier this month.
About Global Airline Prices
The World Airline Awards are managed by the international airline rating organization, Skytrax Research of London, UK. The transparency and global coverage of the survey distinguish these awards as the most prestigious and respected quality recognition for today’s global airline industry.
The awards are based on the results of the Global Airline Survey, which has been running since 1999 and is highly regarded for its clarity of process and rigorously enforced rules of independence. The customer survey was conducted from August 2015 until May 2016with a total of 19.2 million eligible customer surveys in progress.
More than 104 different nationalities took part in the survey, covering more than 280 airlines, from the largest international airlines to the smallest national carriers. The surveys measure quality standards through 41 key performance indicators of frontline products and services.
Customer satisfaction levels for the passenger experience are assessed, in airport and onboard environments – check-in, arrivals and transfer, lounges, seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food and beverages, IFE, personnel service and associated air transport characteristics.
